About The Society
The
Churchill Society of British Columbia
was founded in 1979 and is devoted to the memory of this
outstanding world leader to ensure that his ideals and achievements are not
forgotten and are utilized by succeeding generations.
Our most popular activities are our lectures called "Evening
with Churchill" which feature outstanding speakers on matters of Current Public
Interest and History. To see a synopsis of some past lectures, please go to
the section “Past Events – See what you
missed”!
The Society promotes interest in and education of the life, times,
philosophy and literary heritage of Winston Churchill. Our members receive the quarterly journal "Finest Hour" containing articles on Churchill’s life from The Churchill Centre based in the United States. The Centre sponsors an annual conference which attracts top Churchillian scholars from around the world.
The Society believes that Sir Winston Churchill’s philosophy has
relevance to the present, and that his speeches and writings should be
remembered by present generations. To this end, the Society has established
the Sir
Winston Spencer Churchill Memorial Fund
that sponsors an annual essay contest open to undergraduate
students at UBC and SFU. The Fund encourages young people to look to
Churchill as their role model for leadership in today’s changing and complex
world.
We would welcome you as a Member or Friend of the Society and if
you have any questions please contact our
President,
